ADHD makes it hard to trust yourself.

Others call us flakey and unreliable, but we feel that way about ourselves.

We wake up not knowing if we'll be able to do work today. Or even remember to do them.

It's hard to develop self confidence when you can't trust your own mind.
We expect ourselves to fail and lose desire to try things.

I didn't have low self esteem for no reason. I tried and failed over and over and over.

We develop learned helplessness, especially before we realize we have ADHD.

We feel we suck compared to others around us.
People tell us, 'why could you even do this one simple thing?!'

We ask ourselves that over and over.

People around us think were lazy and that this is done on purpose.

But we dont know why we we're like this and how we can change.

You feel infinitely stuck.
It's not easy breaking out of that, but it is possible.

Learn as much as you can about ADHD and how it affects you. My knowledge literally comes from trying to understand my symptoms.

That way, we can try and find ways around it.

It also makes us feel in control.
Even if we don't have a solution to it, it helps putting a 'name' to it.

If I atleast know what the issue might be, it gives me hope that I will find some coping strategy in the future.

It's relatively easier to come to terms with something when you know what it is atleast.
For example, ADHD affects our emotions.

Imagine you didn't know that. You think you're just like that, and you hate yourself for it.

Then you learn about it.

You wonder if your meds help with it. You can Google how other ADHDers manage it.

You now know it's not just YOU.
Or instrusive thoughts.

You have all these scary thoughts. You wonder if you're a horrible person for having these thoughts.

You don't talk about it cause you don't want people to hate you.

The you learn that it happens to others too.

You are relieved that it's not YOU.
