Last summer I wrote about an alleged sex assault assailant, son of a Repub dealmaker, whose charges were dropped by prosecutor in a cloud of corruption pulling in current NJ top cop. That suspect allegedly brutalized another woman 2 days ago and I am sick. https://www.newsweek.com/nj-man-charged-sex-assault-after-prior-case-dropped-amid-trooper-protests-1585874">https://www.newsweek.com/nj-man-ch...
That Top Cop who punished troopers for trying to do their job and warmly met with prosecutors who were alleged to be corrupt (who dropped charges) - he’s still the top NJ cop, in spite of all this. https://www.newsweek.com/top-nj-state-cop-new-criticism-diner-meeting-1580268">https://www.newsweek.com/top-nj-st...
The AG spent $270K trying to clear this Top Cop, and kicked off the investigation 6 days after our June story. 2 of the 7 troopers who tried to do their job for the victim, still have admin charges pending from this Top Cop. https://www.newsweek.com/new-jersey-ag-spent-270k-investigate-media-reports-top-cop-1585823">https://www.newsweek.com/new-jerse...
That the TOP COP, Pat Callahan, remains in his spot even though he has not been, nor never will be, confirmed because of the cloud of corruption that surrounds him. How are things supposed to change if there is no accountability by leadership?
The original victim told us last night: “He won& #39;t ever stop. This was bound to happen. This is what happens when the justice system protects criminals who continue to offend. It& #39;s just so sickening."
This isn’t a national security story or even a national story. But it just shows how the powerful are not held to account. I’m frustrated and angry that I couldn’t have done more. It’s not right, corruption is not a victimless crime.
