- a thread on why I will not justify those four bullets in Makiyahs body. Why the police brutality needs to stop.
Before you start reading, please DO NOT ATTACK ME !! I am willing to have mature conversations with you, but stop threatening me and calling me ugly names, for defending a dead 16 year old girl. (Please read all before saying anything)
First of all, I am aware of everything she has done and was about to do. I saw the videos, all of them. I am aware that she was about to stab the girl in pink. I was aware that this all happened within seconds. But this is not my point anyway.
The reason why I am not justifying those four shots, is because it were four. Four shots. I know that the situation was very hectic. I know he called get down. But all those things do not justify that he shot her FOUR times. Not one time. four times.
A lot of people say that he should have used his taser, and yes, that was also an option, but I understand that everything happens too fast to grab it. I can also see that he hesitated a bit to shoot her. I am not saying he is a monster cop, that is forcefully killing black people
But a lot of cops are. And this is the problem. This is why it is so important to speak up about incidents like this. Because they are cops, they are supposed to protect us, no matter how old we are, what gender or skin color we have. They HAVE to protect us, at all costs.
That’s their job. And the point is, that the police gets trained completely immorally and wrong. Not only in America. Now, I’m not saying that the German police is better, but those 13 weeks are a sorry of excuse to entrust our lives to them.
Stop treating them like they are normal people, they are trusted with millions civilian lives. Their job is to protect and not kill. We need to change this mindset of “first shoot before you consider other options”, because even if they are cops, they are still taking human lifes
Now to come back to the officer who shot mayikah, my problem with this situation is not that he shot her. My problem is that he shot four times. He fired four bullets through a child’s body. And my point is, that situation like this should be handled differently by cops.
He had no right to shoot her four times, or at least he shouldn’t have the right to do that. I know he saved the pink girls life, but the way he did it is cruel and unforgivable. Stop making excuses for cops, they can’t make mistakes. Those are human lives we are talking about,
Not a math problem in school where you just can erase your mistakes. Again, I am not saying that this cop is a cruel racist that uses his power to kill black people, I don’t know the officer personally. And yes, maybe he regrets it. But it won’t bring the life back that he took.
And the problem is, that many many many people that became officers, have either cruel intentions or they didn’t get trained good enough to protect human lives.
When I recall it correctly (please if I make any mistakes rn, I am literally just a child as well and I’m only talking about my opinion on this) the police in America is allowed to use those lethal weapons to deadly hurt someone or kill them, in situations like these.
And when they get taught that they should shoot before doing anything else, then many human lives lay on the dead line. And this is wrong. This is what needs to change. The “shoot before act” mindset that those cops get taught.
This is not just about makiyah, this is about every single human life that gets taken by the police on daily basis. This is about the police brutality.
Now, I hope that I could somehow make my point clear, eventho i know that this thread and all my thoughts are very messy. Again, I am aware of what happened. But I will not justify those four bullets. I will not justify the death of a 16 year old, killed by the police.
