Adoption sets the adoptee up to always feel disposable.

Not only does society see us as perpetually unwanted children who should be damn grateful anyone ever fed or clothed us, we also learn very, very early that there is no one with us in the world.

We are connectionless.
I say "learn", but really it's a life-long re-learning.

Everytime I thought I was loved I was wrong.
Somehow, even though I should be jaded as fuck, every time someone who said they loved me uses my being adopted against me (which happens to us *a lot*) it shocks me.

Every time the cruelty hits sharp. Every time I'm surprised that people who say they care would go there. 🤦‍♀️
And please do not respond to this with some version of 'then you're around the wrong people'.

Literally everyone uses our status against us at some point- you cannot screen it out.
