Managing a fast growing team is hard. I’ve learned many things and am still learning. Some of these are:

- Eat the elephant one bite at a time
- Document processes even when small
- If you see a problem scratch, don’t leave it
- Reject over-process when too small for it
- A ping pong ball to you is a beach ball to others (copyright @BlueJalappeno)
- Break eggs
- Repeat repeat repeat
- Explain the why
- Always be coaching
- Learn how to switch off
- Celebrate the wins
- Take a breath sometimes
- Find your no work friends and cherish them
- Get a PA early
- Give away every job you can
- Always try make yourself redundant
- Know that thinking is work
- We can’t all ‘do’
- Obvious to you isn’t to others
- Be patient
- Be prepared to challenge
- Listen
- Make decisions
- Dont be a constant campfire - lead
- Every day wipe the slate clean financially. It is always day one
- Trust your gut. And your experience
- Believe in yourself. Realise that’s not arrogance that’s confidence and people need to see you having that
- Protect your team
- Keep changing meetings based on need
- All mistakes are yours to own as a manager/leader
- Don’t procrastinate
- Get efficient
- Talk rubbish on Twitter to clear your mind 😂
- Ignore convention
- Ignore ceilings
- Do it your way
- Ignore naysayers
- Understand fully your strategy and endgame
- Enjoy the journey
