YPG has repeatedly clashed with SAA over the years. For ex: Asayish and NDF are currently fighting in Qamishli.

Majority of the ethnic composition of the SDF consists of Arabs. Most of the Asayish for instance that runs internal security in the NES are made up of Arabs.

The founders of TEVDEM/PYD such as Salih Muslim came from other Kurdish parties that existed in Syria, such as KDP-S. They established a party based on Ocalan’s ideology for their local context. This thread was aimed at clearing up some of the misconceptions about the NES. Unfortunately, a lot of analysis on this region still relies on popular misconceptions.
Arguably, the standard of analysis applied to NES in comparison to rest of Syria is disproportionate.
