Okay, so this is a little thread on notebooks that I like. Especially for you @katrinafee. I love notebooks. Here is a photo of a selection I have collected and used over the years.
I got this one in Sri Lanka & used it as my PhD research journal. I liked the cloth cover and colour, but found it heavy to use and carry around. I did like the it had the ribbon to keep track of the pages.

Also found the pages didn't stay open when I opened the book.
I LOVE this one, and this is about my third of this type. I like it because it is small enough to fit in my wallet, so I always have it on me. It's about the size of a smart phone, soft cover, lined and holds together well.
These are moleskines, and by far my favourite. I like that the binding is small, the soft cover, and the brown colour means it doesn't fade. There are also some pages with perforations so I can remove and share if needed without damaging the book. I use the unlined version
The pages are smooth and soft, but also strong and the ink doesn't go through the pages. I also write the book number on the top so I know what I'm up to, also, the brown aesthetically for me, means the contents and words in the book are more important than the book itself.
The binding is really strong, and the brown cover also doest shoe age or fade. The pages sit flat when writing.
I also like decorative ones like. They are for special writing like fiction or poems. The main feature for me is the soft cover and this binding. Light, easy to carry and easy to use. Haven't noticed much difference between brands. This one is milligram.
I have other special ones too, like this one with black pages, for moments when I want to be more creative or need a little spark. I use metallic colours on this one
This last photo is of my special notebooks. I don't really like hard covers, as I find them heavy, but these have my poems and fiction that mean something to me. The pink is a notebook that I started when I was 7yo.

I have lots more, but this is a taster!
So in summary, I like thin soft cover notebooks because they sit flat and are light. The decorative ones are for more creative writing as it inspires me a little.
