Random bit of trivial: in Cambridge one sometimes goes "punting". On the "backs" (of the colleges) is a bit tame. Adventurous students often go up the rollers of towards Grantchester.

Even more adventurous students attempt "bridge traversing" which uses a bridge incorrectly...
...the adventurous student stands at the front of the punt upon approaching a bridge over the river, while a trusted friend punts from the back of the punt. The adventurous student then jumps up onto the bridge and climbs over it while the punt goes under it trying to get back...
...onto the punt before it sails away. There are easier and more difficult bridges and I do not recommend it unless you've done a lot of rock climbing... and unless you really trust the friend punting. Otherwise you will be going swimming.
What is worrying is there is so much of this random Cambridge stuff everyone used to do and I almost miss it but I've swam in the Cam and it's not pleasant.
