Incidentally, good to see the Lord Chancellor *and* the Lord Chief Justice slapping down the perennial media pressure to get rid of the wigs. Ime barristers and judges don't mind them, but journalists find them outmoded and embarrassing.

This rather good point from Zoe Chapman at Red Lion Chambers is an unfashionable observation but I think it's very true. The uniform greases the wheels for newcomers. It's mostly the "male, pale, stale" types who worry about it in the first place.

Yes, adapt the uniform where needed. That court hijab at the top of this thread is a great example of sensitive adaptation. But the need to adapt does not undermine the need for the uniform.
