Before #EarthDay2021 ends, here is my sustainable swaps thread.
*Links & Visuals provided where I can.
Making swaps are often easier than we think because we often have what we need to make the swap.
We don't need to throw out what we have and buy new things. Trust me - just look
First easy swap was to carry my own water.
Cheap way: All those promo mugs and bottles you get at events are
Bougie way: I love triple insulated steel bottles - especially these: https://amzn.to/3a5uQCL  & https://amzn.to/3enUGTs
Though more because I love soup but hate plastic spoons that cut your lip, ditching single use utensils was an easy choice.
Cheap way: I use the ones from my kitchen and carry them in a pencil case.
Bougie way: Order a cute set from Amazon: https://amzn.to/3erhSA2
Straws are complicated because most of us don't need them but paper straws just don't work for me.
Cheap way: Don't use any at all.
Bougie way: I much prefer silicone straws like the blue angled straw and the grey cocktail straw in the photo.
Make Sunday Monday and food storage easier and cuter:
Cheap Way: Reuse takeout containers & glass jars where you can.
Bougie Way: Get an adorable bento box, lunch bag, and spice jars: https://amzn.to/3vi7xgN  & https://amzn.to/3avpQao
I started using reusable shopping bags when I moved to Japan & got tired of the many plastic bags
Cheap way: Branded bags from events are great! Also, supermarket boxes.
Bougie way: Get bundles of bags that are cute and pocketable. https://amzn.to/3sDyDNy
Makeup wipes are convenient-ish, but my skin doesn't like them. I ditched them for The Makeup Eraser. BEST DECISION EVER!
I am still wondering how it removes waterproof mascara with just water.

Last but not least, I stopped using plastic razors. They are way too expensive! I got this razor in 2018 with a 100 blade pack - haven't bought new blades yet.

Outside of this, I am trying to reduce my food waste by:
1. Only buying what I need when I need it.
2. Pre-cutting and freezing my herbs and seasonings.
3. Growing what I can so I pick as needed.
