Bertha the tank engine lore [THREAD]
Bertha started life as an Hughes 0-4-0 Railmotor, built at Horwich Works sometime between 1906 and 1911, and was adopted by the LMS.

Her brothers and sisters began to be withdrawn from service until she was the only one remaining in 1948 as nationalization came.
She was saved from scrap by a railway in France, where she was converted into a harbour shunter.

( this procedure was preformed heavily inexperienced, and resulted in rewiring of her brain, essentially becoming a brand new engine albeit core memories remained )
Not remembering English, she adopted to French quickly, but became almost a burden as the railway was expecting an experienced engine, not a young one.

Time flew by and in 1950 her harbour was closed and abandoned swiftly, she was left there where she stood.
In ????, the fat man was in need of a new engine, and Bertha was saved, overhauled/repaired and sent on her way to Sodor, where she was located at Harwick with Ryan and Daisy.
