I believe the fastest way to evolving cheerleading would be widespread scholarship opportunities throughout collegiate cheerleading. It is no coincidence that some of the best teams (such as Weber in NCA and Kentucky in UCA) give scholarships and have great talent.

The majority of people who cheer in college get nothing in return for doing it. It’s usually just because we love it, which goes a long way but isn’t enough. SO many college cheerleaders have to work their way through to do what they love, and it takes focus away from the sport.

People get better and better every year in basketball, football, volleyball etc because all they have to focus on is school and class. Having that ability in cheer would have an incredible impact on the speed of evolution of the sport.

Shout out to the programs who have athletic programs and schools that support them enough to be able to offer those things. I wish more universities gave those athletes what they deserve.
