My motivation for pushing college athlete name, image, and likeness (NIL) has been to provide individuals with the rights they deserve.

But it is important to recognize the magnitude of the industry that will develop around NIL.

I have communicated with, provided legal counsel for and/or consulted with many of the roughly 150 platforms that seek to provide services surrounding NIL.

I agree that some companies seem to be biting off more than they can chew and could be violating states' laws as of July 1.
I agree with @jimcavale's comment that much of the legislation makes it clear that "you can’t be the marketplace and work with institutions who are paying you."

Schools need to be very careful about the companies they retain for NIL services. Avoid unnecessary exposure.
