Now that I’ve had some time to decompress, here is a soppy thread about
GRADUATING
from @RSJnow.
Even though this year was insane for so many reasons, I never anticipated how much growth would come from it and how much gratitude I could have for classmates/profs/mentors

First shoutout MUST be to @KamalAlSolaylee. I am SO LUCKY to have been in two of Kamal’s classes in the fall. Being in Zoom school, I could have easily been dejected, but his patience and support allowed me to flourish and I began seeing a space for myself in the industry

THE STUDENTS. AHHHH!!! I’ve been to 3 universities (4 if you include my fake degree) but my WORD I’ve never been so proud to be part of a community. These students are supportive, uplifting and doing work that (honestly) no student should have to be doing.
But they’re doing it and it makes me so proud
(also the students that run @theeyeopener — are you kidding me!?!?) Truly, I’m so excited to see where all my classmates end up and it gives me hope knowing that these are the people I’ll be working with in the future.

These two are no strangers to my soppy tweets: @artipatel @madiwongg. Starting my internship at @globalnews earlier this year, I could not have even imagined the work that has come from it. Arti gave Madi and I a space to learn and grow and now we’re Global’s lifestyle team

My team at @newwavezine
who has been hella supportive throughout the years — this masthead has so much talent. AND @theryersonian, ngl I was hesitant to take the newsroom masthead but I’m so glad I did
I walked away proud of everything I wrote and...

glad to have worked with the sonian team (S/O to @abhihereandnow @kirtixvyas @AsmaaToor). We are all Asmaa stans and we all love Asmaa!!!
I’m also very lucky to have had the profs that I did: @ga_adamson @GaryGouldPhD @carlylewis, Kevin McLean and Rudy Lee definitely stick out as profs who made my university experience worth it. Also my creative writing prof and former neighbour @ms_damianrogers who is v v talented
And lastly, to all the mentors I gained along the way. Moving to Toronto and going to Ryerson has opened up doors I never thought possible. I’m 5’1 but I now dream like a 6’4 man. Does that make sense? I really don’t know anymore this thread has become much longer than I
Expected. ANYWAYS, to everyone else graduating amid the pandemic (and even if you’re not) I’m so proud of all of you and yes, myself, and again THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone. I’m done now— with this tweet and my degree woo! I will now stfu!
