i have to say, this idea that the "dark side" versions of characters are wholly separate and therefore the "light side" versions are completely absolved of their evil acts undercuts any meaningful lesson about what causes good people to do bad shit https://twitter.com/brodouche/status/1385366133386194944
i know that this is sort of canon, and that like, Kylo Ren is a different person than Ben Solo, I'm just saying it's a bad choice and part of redemption is restitution, and we've missed out on those stories by having villains do One Good Thing and then dying
give me a star wars show where a dark side force user comes back to the light and spends their life trying to make amends for their action while working to stay in the light
the winter jedi
force them to reckon with why they fell! force them to confront the pain and terror they caused! maybe some of the people they hurt won't forgive them and they have to learn to live with that! show that bad people can become better and that being better is its own reward!!
i feel like some star wars fans could use that message right about now!!!
