Broadway, like many parts of American capitalism, allows certain theatre artists their rare chance to be marked down in history but it is not a space where true art can be nurtured. That’s why the best things there come from the fringes. Reform won’t fix this.
That being said I see doing work on Broadway like doing a film for Netflix. By being on a platform with a lot of not art, you can make a lot of money to make your other art, bc until we have socialized arts programs in our country the dream of anti capitalist art making is
