I wish a bar was open just outside a great theatre so I could run into @ChrisJonesTrib and tell him all the ways this pledge of fealty to theatrical capitalism is so insane.

Broadway, like many parts of American capitalism, allows certain theatre artists their rare chance to be marked down in history but it is not a space where true art can be nurtured. That’s why the best things there come from the fringes. Reform won’t fix this.
That being said I see doing work on Broadway like doing a film for Netflix. By being on a platform with a lot of not art, you can make a lot of money to make your other art, bc until we have socialized arts programs in our country the dream of anti capitalist art making is 😬🥲😭
the only possible way to do good true anti - capitalist theatre without socialized govt funds is to have a trust fund or a boyfriend with one.
