1 / Week 3 of this exercise...let’s talk about @reddit X Crypto

I’ll explore
- Reddit’s deep crypto roots
- The potential of user-owned communities
- Reddit’s role in DAOs
2 / Reddit was founded 16 years ago - it's the 18th most visited site in the world.

Reddit is a network of communities, home to the best user-generated content

I’d go so far as to say Reddit is a homepage for the internet
3 / They’ve been upfront about crypto experimentation

2013 - enabled tipping with bitcoin (turned it off shortly after)
2020 - introduced community points for 2 subreddits
2020 - they also teamed up with Eth foundation to work on scaling tools / bring points to mainnet
4 / The two points include: Moons (r/Cryptocurrency) and Bricks (r/Fortnite) which represent ownership in a subreddit

They:
- are issued on ethereum
- controlled by subreddit
- can be transferred, tipped + spent in the subreddit
- display reputation + unlock features
5 / Here’s why I think community points are a strong start:

Rewards users for providing strong content (in many cases this is huge for them )
6 / The value of content, moderation, and UGC is about to change in the face of web3

my hope - we use web3 to make the internet economy a viable option for anyone to earn a respectable income
7 / Moons + Bricks also provide access

this includes everything from badges, features GIFs and more
