crisis in the household as a close family member over the age of 40 reveals she believes that beavers *eat* wood

"well if they're not eating it why are they cutting down trees!"

"to build dams!!!!"

"they have to eat some of the trees. they don't build that many dams!"

"they eat leaves and twigs etc, grass and mushrooms!! they don't live on wood!"

"then what do they do with it all!"

a beaver sitting down at a little wooden table inside its cozy dam, putting a huge stack of sliced tree trunks on a plate and adding maple syrup, eating like a stack of pancakes. i am fully losing my mind
