yes I did finally watch the Shameless finale and yes it was wow! Bad! Sad! what a way to double down on the worst parts and slam the door in the face of everything that made it good and everyone who ever got anything out of it!

yes I got here because I was watching the Yhara zayd video essay on Skins (great stuff, highly recommend this & all her other videos) & then she started mentioning other British adaptations & my blood pressure spiked all over again

yes I thought I was done but no I’m not so—
so many of these actors proved they had serious talent over the course of the show! these people have given beautiful performances! but it was like as soon as Emmy Rossum left they said “well we can’t possibly do a drama NOW!”

it was always a dark *comedy* sure, but now they’ve got fucking cops doing tiktok dances? this show was offensive/ridiculous/completely f*cking stupid in so many ways so many times, but it wasn’t copaganda, and it was never fucking trite.

why’d I censor one “fuck”? Idk! anyway I love Mickey & Ian & I could hardly take the hollow fan service. It’s like they realized 75% of the fans left were straight women shippers & the other 25% unironically agreed w Frank & they tried to make a show for that pie chart from hell.

I am *not* saying my childhood was like shameless, (thank god). but some parts of it were familiar, to me, to my weird wide white trash fucking family. those were the parts that, for me, made it worth watching—and those were the parts they made into utter farce. And it's a shame.
