Yes so very strange that Veronica Mars, a noir detective show about a young female PI whose life calling is also the source of her pain, didn't take notes from Friday Night Lights, a drama that has nothing at all in common with Veronica Mars https://twitter.com/PasteMagazine/status/1384882550275985408
Noir stories are highly skeptical of romance and romantic love, so when you say shit like RT should have "allowed" Veronica and Logan to be a happy couple, all you do is demonstrate you don't understand the concepts at the foundation of noir AT ALL.
Which puts the argument here - especially "VM had already proven that you don’t need to play firmly within the sandbox of the genre to excel creatively" - on rocky ground. The show has been a noir since the pilot! There were never any guarantees about LoVe or HEA endings.
Every major storyline in the entire series has a bittersweet conclusion AT BEST. Where the hell did these people get the idea that the biggest ship in Neptune would get a happy ending? Where did this entitlement come from?
Literally, show me ONE happy romantic relationship in the series. Because the only one I can think of is Wallace and his wife and that one was only possible because he got out of the Veronica-Mars-Uses-Me-To-Do-Her-Morally-Ambiguous-Bidding business.
Burnts: HOW DARE THIS NOIR SHOW KILL OFF A LOVE INTEREST THE LEAD CHARACTER DESERVES TO BE HAPPY AND THE ONLY WAY TO ACHIEVE THAT IS THROUGH A HAPPY LOVING MARRIAGE
