I know I'm probably speaking to the void here, but I just wanted to write down my thoughts about the Destiny transmog controversy that started today. 1/?
As someone who highly values the fashion endgame of Destiny, the introduction of transmog next season has been something I've been VERY excited about; however, the way Bungie is rolling out this system is probably the worst way it could be done.
Putting a cap of 10 free earnable transmoggable items per character in a season (a roughly three month time period) just to push players to pay money to go over that cap is insane considering there's like 4,000 different armor pieces of legendary quality or below in this game.
Someone did the math, & (assuming the math is right) it would take 33 years to transmog every piece of armor in the game with the system as it is. This system doesn't promote player investment, it doesn't encourage people to experiment with looks (literally the point of transmog)
I love Bungie, they're literally my favorite game dev studio, and I love Destiny more than any game I've ever played. I understand Bungie is a company, and they need to make money to keep the game running, but they had to know this wasn't going to go over well with the fanbase
There's the arguement that Destiny is a free-to-play game, and therefore these mtx are okay, but is it really at this point? Destiny still has paid expansions every year, and season passes. Hell, you need Beyond Light to use Stasis, it's like a psuedo free-to-play game imo
I would be fine with a transmog system with no cap, but still gave players the option to pay money to skip the grind to earn transmoggable items. I'd even be okay with making the grind longer than currently presented to make-up for it.
