The share of COVID-19 deaths in LTCFs has dropped significantly since its peak in June 2020 (49%). The most recent cut of data puts that share at 34% for the set of states included in this analysis.

21 states reported their lowest LTCF death rates in April 2021, including 5 states that reported zero* COVID-19 LTCF deaths per 100,000 state residents in April 2021.

8 states reported an increase in LTCF cases between March & April 2021, ranging from a 6% increase in New Hampshire to 150%+ increases in Connecticut & Michigan.
