At 16 I was held at gun point and thrown on the hood of my car and put in cuffs with no explanation. Just pulled over, guns drawn from the onset, and put in cuffs. I was terrified but I still complied and I’m alive. All that happened because of a mistaken vehicle identity.
Turns out I was driving the same model and color vehicle of a suspect they were looking for who just killed 2 people in an armed robbery. With context I understood why all that happened. The officers were extremely apologetic and even offered to take me to file a complaint.
Who asks to get themselves in trouble? People with integrity do, that’s who. I obviously declined because everything they did made perfect sense. They had mixed descriptions of the guy himself so the cars the next best thing and I was in the area of the crime.
Bottom line is just do what they say and fight your battle later. Even if you lose your later battle at least you’re alive. There are bad cops for sure but almost zero who will kill you if you comply. I really don’t understand why we can’t understand this as a society.
