Maybe I'm alone in this, but any time I see an argument based on what "the founders intended," my only response is "who gives a crap?"

Several of them lived out their intention to enslave people? They didn't intend for women to vote? You'd never be able to explain huge parts of modern life to them sufficient for them to intend anything about them at all?

I don't care even slightly about their intentions.

Just because I can see a decent number of replies on this, and with apologies to anyone who may be saying lovely things, but wanted to offer a PSA that my notifications are such that I'm almost certainly not gonna see the mean ones, either, so maybe save your time?
