We've said it before and we'll continue to say it, on #EarthDay and beyond: bicycles will help fight the climate crisis. Here's how:

Transportation makes up nearly a third (28%) of all U.S. emissions, most of which (59%) comes from passenger vehicles. https://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/fast-facts-transportation-greenhouse-gas-emissions
Electric bicycles, the most likely replacement for car trips, hold a lot of promise here.

@TRECpdx research suggests that a 15% increase in e-bike mode share could lead to an 11% decrease in CO2 emissions: https://bit.ly/2Pcfy7s
There's a LOT that needs to change to make choosing to ride a bike or an e-bike easier for all Americans & realize @POTUS's goal to reduce 50% of emissions by 2035.

We need connected, protected bike networks and to breakdown barriers to biking: https://bit.ly/3aOMA5p
That means safe bike lanes and trails that take you where you need to go + meaningful, equity-centered community engagement.

Here are our infrastructure priorities to get us there: …https://wsd-pfb-sparkinfluence.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/2021/04/PFB-2021-Reauthorization-Letter-Senate.pdf
Also critical: let's make e-bikes more financially accessible to more Americans by passing the #EBIKEAct from @RepJimmyPanetta, @repblumenauer & @RepThompson.
We're not saying bikes are a silver bullet for the climate crisis (although if you ride fast on a silver bike...) but they're one important tool of many.

Help amplify the call by telling your reps to cosponsor the #EBIKEAct today: https://action.peopleforbikes.org/e-bike-act/
