India's total Oxygen production per day is 7k+ Metric Tonne Per Day.Pre-Covid 70% of the Oxygen is
Was supplied to industries n 20% to Medical.India's medical demand was 700MTPD before Covid
Most oxygen plants are in industrial states like Maha followed by Gujarat n the remaining http://follow.In  the 1st wave the demand for medical O2 went from 700MTPD to 2k+ http://MTPD.In  the 2nd wave the demand is 5k+ per day
Eventhough as a whole India produces 7k+ MTPD oxygen while demand presently in 5k+ MTPD there is a logistics issue. The states producing most O2 i.e Maha n Guj are states having highest cases thus all O2 produced in that states is being consumed there
Plus there is an addnl shortage in Maha n Guj.States like Delhi n MP don't produce their own Oxygen(thus depending on other states). Now states like Jharkhand,Orissa n AP have excess O2 as cases are lower n thus can be exported to other states
But we lack cryogenic cylinders, gas cylinders to transport the O2,thus leading to the http://crisis.Now  this is trying to be bridged using RoRo trains n also airlifting. But if cases continue to rise n reach 5lakh cases PD our production will fall short
There is a global tender to import 50k MT oxygen to India. Also metal manufacturers are being asked to produce oxygen.
