Regarding the Tour's PIP, I think it's OK to say, "This kinda maybe isn't the greatest thing" while also understanding why the Tour tried to get out ahead of any potential coup by the seven guys who matter.
It's also easy to understand why Rory, JT and Koepka would be like, "Wait a second, you're using *me* to promote your league and I'm guaranteed exactly $0 from you every year?"
I don't know all the details and nuance of how the contracts work ("you don't understand the contracts"), but I wonder if a better solution to all of this would be the Tour (or any golf org.) paying Rory every time they use him in a commercial or he's shown on the broadcast.
Akin to how a radio station licenses artists and songs. If you want to play the hits, you have to pay for them. That's a gross oversimplification of how all of it would actually work -- and this was a much easier short-term solution -- but that seems less messy than this.
