Regarding the Tour& #39;s PIP, I think it& #39;s OK to say, "This kinda maybe isn& #39;t the greatest thing" while also understanding why the Tour tried to get out ahead of any potential coup by the seven guys who matter.
It& #39;s also easy to understand why Rory, JT and Koepka would be like, "Wait a second, you& #39;re using *me* to promote your league and I& #39;m guaranteed exactly $0 from you every year?"
I don& #39;t know all the details and nuance of how the contracts work ("you don& #39;t understand the contracts"), but I wonder if a better solution to all of this would be the Tour (or any golf org.) paying Rory every time they use him in a commercial or he& #39;s shown on the broadcast.
Akin to how a radio station licenses artists and songs. If you want to play the hits, you have to pay for them. That& #39;s a gross oversimplification of how all of it would actually work -- and this was a much easier short-term solution -- but that seems less messy than this.
