The thing that makes me entrepreneurial ISN'T a high appetite for risk.

The thing that makes me entrepreneurial is a high level of self-confidence.

I absolutely believe I can and will build a successful business in this time of abundance.
In my experience, entrepreneurs are not the risk takers we're portrayed to be. We're actually risk averse.

• We diversify our skills & income
• We build on the side before we go full-time on our businesses
• We want to be profitable or have tons of savings before we quit
We can be over-cautious to the point of irrationality & paranoia.

I had 5 years of savings before I quit my job 9 months ago!

Completely unnecessary!

I have more savings now than when I quit.

But I still worry about moving house because I'd "only" have 18 months of cash left.
Maybe you think 18 months of cash is sensible. But that's assuming I'll earn nothing, which is pessimistic. In the last 6 months:

• I had consulting gigs
• I built a new product to $15k ARR
• I built a 870 person waitlist for my course
• I ran a side project at $500 MRR
Heck, there's a multi-month consulting contract in my inbox right now that'll cover our expenses with a 4 hour work week. 🤩

Despite all this, I assume the worst when budgeting. 😅

Am I alone? Are you risk taking, or risk averse? How do you compare to the stereotype?
