The thing that makes me entrepreneurial ISN& #39;T a high appetite for risk.

The thing that makes me entrepreneurial is a high level of self-confidence.

I absolutely believe I can and will build a successful business in this time of abundance.
In my experience, entrepreneurs are not the risk takers we& #39;re portrayed to be. We& #39;re actually risk averse.

• We diversify our skills & income
• We build on the side before we go full-time on our businesses
• We want to be profitable or have tons of savings before we quit
We can be over-cautious to the point of irrationality & paranoia.

I had 5 years of savings before I quit my job 9 months ago!

Completely unnecessary!

I have more savings now than when I quit.

But I still worry about moving house because I& #39;d "only" have 18 months of cash left.
Maybe you think 18 months of cash is sensible. But that& #39;s assuming I& #39;ll earn nothing, which is pessimistic. In the last 6 months:

• I had consulting gigs
• I built a new product to $15k ARR
• I built a 870 person waitlist for my course
• I ran a side project at $500 MRR
Heck, there& #39;s a multi-month consulting contract in my inbox right now that& #39;ll cover our expenses with a 4 hour work week. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤩" title="Vom Star geblendet" aria-label="Emoji: Vom Star geblendet">

Despite all this, I assume the worst when budgeting. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😅" title="Lächelndes Gesicht mit offenem Mund und Angstschweiß" aria-label="Emoji: Lächelndes Gesicht mit offenem Mund und Angstschweiß">

Am I alone? Are you risk taking, or risk averse? How do you compare to the stereotype?
