Lychee had expressed that I was wrong to do so, and I went into Lychee's DMs to apologize but then proceeded to stick my foot into my mouth by saying this: (thread linked) https://twitter.com/bimboballadeer/status/1385228161676414976
I /thought/ I was attempting to take responsibility for my words/actions through DMs but I acted/spoke in a matter that was antiblack and for that I am sorry. Lychee expressed that there would be no followup conversation after I was told what was wrong with what I said and so I-
Left it at that. I didn't want to come off as if I was harrassing Lychee or trying to justify what I had wrongly done. Lychee unfollowed me and so I did in return because I thought that seemed like the right thing to do after what I had done/said.
Since then I've unlearned to use AAVE when I speak and I have learned to be more mindful of what I say. I want to formally take accountability and apologize for what I have done and how badly I responded to it as a nonblack person.
I am not entitled to an acceptance of this apology nor does it erase or justify what I said or did in response to being told that I was speaking inappropriately.
