In honor of its release yesterday, here are some of my favorite spots from WOMEN OF MARVEL #1! First, a panel I've been waiting to tweet since @snarkbat wrote it. More stories that call fascist scum what they are, please. Plus @naomifranq (like whoa, <3) and @br_peer killing it!
I love @Alterici @joannaestep and @kniivila's throwback Mystique and Rogue story for its sheer silliness and mother-daughter shenanigans--M&R's relationship is fascinating to me. Check out these adorable transformation panels!
I was really pumped to invite games writer @amely for a story here, and especially to pair her with @kei_zama (and the great @Ruth_Redmond coloring). Kei draws some of my favorite punches in comics and this one is spectacular.
The "those ARMS" joke in @Nadia_Shammas_ @SkyePatridge & @Treestumped She-Hulk story makes me so happy. Shulkie is my well documented fav character, and I love this story for highlighting her grace and power.
I told @mooncalfe1 and @eloelo that I wanted a "brutal" fight between Marrow and Feral--and damn, they delivered. But this story is full of surprises--and ultimately gets to that classic X-Men idea of supporting your own community <3 (colors by the indomitable @Treestumped)
I'd been looking for a chance to bring @zlikeinzorro to Marvel and was overjoyed to make it happen here. @MariaFrohlich was a great #drawingwhileblack find and she brought Gamora to life beautifully. So what is true love? I'm with the purple chick. Color by @rachellecheri
@marikotamaki @sirpangur @RachaelAtWork @MarikaCresta @peachmomoko60 @rachellecheri and June Brigman did a PERFECT series of 1-page stories with precious, "human" moments for some of my favorite heroines.
shout out to letterer extraordinaire @CommentAiry for a million great details like the arrows on the captions here--it's such a pleasure to have Ariana on the VC staff now.
and a thank you to @SalenaMahina, who designed the original VOICES template, and Stacie Zucker, who updated it for Women of Marvel so we could do things like this--show off some of the amazing women-led books in our current lineup, as well as our great staff spotlight
And finally, last but not at all least, thank you @AngeliqueRoche for this "Power Pose" spotlight on women of color in the MU--and for, you know, kicking off the entire amazing Voices program.
