Today is #InternationalEarthDay and I want everyone to remember that anything less than net-zero by 2030 is not enough.

Compromise is important but not if that compromise means millions of deaths + hundreds of millions forced to migrate by 2050, and eventual ecological collapse.
How dire things are often gets lost in the rapid flow of media but-

If we don't do enough quickly enough, Humanity will wipe out almost all life on earth.

We can't even begin to comprehend how much death and destruction there will be in the next century if we don't do enough.
Unfortunately, changing things won't be easy. The system is set up to disempower you and me, and to amplify the voices of the powerful and wealthy who prioritise individual profit over avoiding the end of life as we know it.

This sounds awful. It is. It is horrific.
We have been convinced by these same powerful voices that we individually have the power to fix things by recycling and buying "green" products.

This is a lie. Individual change isn't enough; anything less than system change will lead to climate breakdown, wars, and famine.
We should all be angry. If you're not angry at the climate half-measures, you simply don't know enough about it.

The world we live in will likely cease to exist in only a few decades and our generation (and future generations) are being fucked by a tiny number of wealthy people.
I used to cheer at the "net zero by 2050" announcements until I began researching climate change for my final university project and realised just how much more needs to be done.

Net Zero by 2030 is the closest to a compromise that we must allow.
If you care about the entire world not ending within our lifetimes, do some of these:

*Contact elected reps regularly to call for net zero by 2030 at the latest*
*Join environmental groups*
*Explain to friends&family how bad the situation really is*
*Support real green parties*
I don't enjoy putting negativity out there, but unfortunately we need to realise how bad things so that we can be motivated to change things and turn that anger into hope for a better world for all.

If this makes you angry/anxious, channel that energy towards improving things.
