How to use email:

Mantra: Scale your list = Scale your profits

ESPECIALLY if you are on Amazon

Now that's out of the way

Here are 5 email list building strategies

I hope you're taking notes because this is an action packed with (with tons of examples)
Strategy # 1 Use Pop Up Forms

Many store owners avoid pop up forms because it annoys them as users but they are very effective for list building.

Mindset: Listen to the data and set your personal preferences aside

According to a study from http://sumo.com ..
popup forms are one of the highest converting email forms you can build.

They are second only to welcome mats.

Welcome mat: full page signup form that occupies the entire screen and forces you to pay attention.

Some tips on how to set up pop up forms 👇👇
> Customize pop up based on customer behavior

Offering coupons are the most common way to use pop up forms but they don't always convert the best.

To increase opt-in rate, test different offers and make sure it's RELEVANT to the user

For my store http://bumblebeelinens.com  ...
a standard coupon opt-in converts at 1.6%

To increase this, I set up triggers based on context.

Eg for user who visit my linen and napkin-related pages, I set up this offer which increased my opt-in rate from 1.6% to 2%
> use a Gamified pop up

People love to win stuff and it's a fun way to incentivize people to sign up.

Here's an example of one I used:

📊: By changing my vanilla pop up form to a "spin to win" form, my sign up rate jumped by 131% from 1.6% to 3.7% !
Strategy # 2 Blog

Blogs are a great source of free traffic and leads.

This is why the most successful stores run blogs.

Blogs help you:
✅Maintain an online presence
✅Stand out from competition
✅Attract customers on auto-pilot

Here's some useful tips to get you started 🔽
> Use Keyword research + Publish relevant content

A great blog post begins with great research.

Eg I sell napkins so my customers often need napkin folding ideas

Pro tip: Use a tool like Ahrefs

As you can see "napkin folding" gets 11k searches/mo

I took this intelligence...
and created a napkin folding guide and now I rank #2 for napkin folding guides.

Pretty cool huh?

See how simple that was?

Let's move onto Blogging tip # 2...
> Popup forms

This form is set to pop up under these conditions
- 20 secs passed for laptop users
- User about to exit page
- Signup link in content is clicked

Pro tip : Test with different form variations until you find one that works!
Strategy # 3 Run a group giveaway

✅Group giveaways involve working with related brands to generate buzz in your niche.
✅ Fastest way to build your list (you can grow 10s of 1000s in days)
✅ Relatively inexpensive compared to paid options like FB ads

How does it work? 👇👇👇
Partner with other brands in your niche:

- Each participant contributes similar size gift card (combined in 1 massive sweepstakes giveaway)
- Each brand sends out offer to their list
- Interested participants give their email to get offers from your biz
- Winner is selected
At the end of the giveaway, each brand walks away with tons of new emails

Eg. Here's a group giveaway I participated in

📊:
Total emails acquired: 11.7K
Avg list size of participating brands: 20.822
Avg list size growth for each participant: 56.25%

Crazy huh?
Strategy # 4 The Traditional Giveaway

What you need to know:
> Unlike a group giveaway, the traditional only has 1 prize.
> You have to use paid ads (FB) to get new sign ups
> You can grow your list at < $0.50 per subscriber

Let's walk through how you can set this up...
Step 1) Choose your prize
Ideally prize should be worth at least $150 and relevant to the products you sell.

Pro tip: Avoid generic prizes like Amazon gift cards. The prize should be related to your niche.

Eg If you sell custom jewelry, prize might be a beautiful jewelry box
Step 2) Set up Giveaway

Use a tool like ViralSweep to do this.

In this example, additional contest entries can be earned when people share your giveaway on socials.

The ability to earn bonus entries for shares will get a ton of eye balls on your giveaway (might even go viral!)
Step 3) Email participants during giveaway

Key is to stay in constant contact!

Here's a simple email sequence:
1st email - Introduce giveaway and brand. Remind entrants they must stay subscribed to win.
2nd email - remind people that there are multiple chances to win
Remind they can increase their chances by sharing the giveaway on socials

3rd-8th emails - The remaining emails should be used to inform participants about freebies, promotions, and other product offerings from your store.
Step 4) Email after giveaway with special offer

Announce the winner publicly.

Pro tip: Ask for winner to send in photos as this adds credibility to your contest.

Example post-giveaway sequence:
1st email – Thank the participants with a consolation coupon or gift card.
2nd email – Notify the user that their gift card is about to expire.
3rd email – Give one last nudge with a message like, “Your gift card has been extended one more day.

Step 5) Filter out good prospects

Now that the giveaway is done, you want to clean out your list.

How?
Separate out your emails based on location and remove countries that you don’t sell to:

- Clean your list and email only the highest engaged subscribers of your giveaway autoresponder sequence.
- Optional: delete AOL, Microsoft and Yahoo email addresses
Strategy # 5 FB Messenger Giveaway

✅ Brilliant solution for building an audience and launching products on Amazon or your own online store.
✅Unlike a traditional giveaway, Messenger giveaways run on autopilot once set up
✅Cost per subscriber tends to be lower
How they work?
When someone clicks your ad, a messenger chatbot asks if user wants to enter in giveaway.

Example: Click through the attached images to see one I set up for BumblebeeLinen
How to set up a Messenger giveaway

- Sign up for chatbot tool like ManyChat
- The chatbots takes care of announcing winners automatically
- Adjust odds of winning by tinkering with bot settings
- If person wins, a coupon code is automatically generated and sent to them
Conclusion: Scaling your email list to the moon

The five strategies described above are not mutually exclusive and you can implement all 5 at the same time for maximum list growth potential.
