If you're confused or concerned about political parties/companies holding data on you, you can simply ask them!

Here's how to send them a SAR (it's like an FOI but for your own personal data).

1/4
Here's a sample SAR I use that you can copy:

1. Add the changes highlighted in yellow (incl previous addresses/email addresses if applicable)
2. Email to the relevant data protection lead in the org
3. State you expect a reply within 28 days.

4. They may ask for i.d.:
-Utility bill -Usually a fair ask
-Cookie i.d.-Should provide instructions on how to find your cookie
-Passport -Ask them to justify why that is proportionate and if so ask them to delete it on receipt.

Once sent this restarts the clock so do so asap.
Step 5: Tell me if you get anything interesting (not mandatory, I'm just nosy).

Political parties probably have data on you given its increasingly sophisticated use in politics.

Question is to what extent are you comfortable with & is it legal (not necessarily the same thing).
You can follow @RachelLavin.
