Weird thing in cycling where we hear a rider carried on racing having broken several bones in a crash mid-race & instead of saying "well that's mad/dangerous/what about their welfare?" we go "wow, they just became one of my favourite riders, hard as nails, impressive"

Like, riding on with multiple injuries is not cause for praise/celebration, or the precedent we should be setting for young people coming into this sport.
We need to start creating an environment where riders know to stop if they're that badly injured.

Adding this tweet to the thread. "The guy's so tough."
Either he wasn't as injured as he was letting on, or its a reckless decision by him & the team to allow him to play on.
That's not "tough". Can we stop making people think they're not "tough" if they go off injured?
