#EarthDay2021 feels particularly consequential with the #ClimateSummit and run up to #COP26. But what’s in a credible business strategy? A thread.

1) Move as fast as you can. Be ambitious & realistic at the same time. Targets are meant to be stretching.

2) Minimise the “net” in net zero. What makes net zero different from carbon neutrality is the focus on reductions; only GHGs that cannot be abated are balanced w/ removals.

3) Focus on the present. Show immediate actions, interim targets, pathways to achieve the longer term ambition. Remember NIMBY? Don’t risk being accused of NIMTOO (Not In My Term Of Office)

4) Make a unique contribution depending on the nature of the business. Invest in new technologies, drive climate awareness & literacy; engage all of the value chain.
