Galway, our host city for @GenomicsCRT, is a great place for genomics and the student experience.
You can now study genomics at all levels in @nuigalway with the BSc in Genetics and Genomics, MSc in Biomedical Genomics / Genomics Data Science and PhD in Genomics Data Science.

All taught by excellent researchers who are passionate about genomics.
There is a wide range of genomics research here. Students of the CRT at @nuigalway are using genomics to research leukemia, elite sports biomarkers, psychiatric disorders, breast cancer, honeybees and hydractinia, to name a few. https://twitter.com/EpgntxEinstein/status/1199286377659154433
The campus at @nuigalway is the oldest and biggest in the West of Ireland and includes a beautiful walk along the River Corrib.
During the summer, there's also a great silent disco street party! (Although I can't imagine being in such a large crowd ever again....)
I live within walking distance of the beach, the woods and city centre.
Swimming has been a lifesaver over lockdown. A lot of people have started over the last few months so there's a great sense of community here (even if you're keeping your distance). I've convinced a few @GenomicsCRT students to join so far and working on the rest.
And of course, every student's favourite thing to do on a sunny day is meet friends and hangout by the Spanish Arch.
You don't even need to leave the county to see the beautiful countryside. This is ~ 1 hour drive from the city.
And so is this....
I don't think I need to tell anyone but the nightlife is great too đŸș. I'm sure @kev_fanning agrees....
I love big cities but there's something about Galway that makes it a great place to study.

Being on campus is enjoyable and I find that I can have more fun here because the cost of living is lower and most things are within walking distance.
It's great that the @GenomicsCRT has a 3 month research training programme here. My cohort completed ours online due to COVID but I'm excited for incoming cohorts that get a chance to experience this great city.

If you're considering a PhD in Ireland, Galway is a great choice!
You can follow @GenomicsCRT.
