Everyone positively retweeting Jeremy O. Harris’s thread supporting Amazon’s Them (of course he would like it) is either White or is a Black faux bohemian with the exact type of bio you’d expect. I bet you can guess exactly the types of bios before looking.
Wait, he didn’t even WATCH it? So why is he going to the mattresses for it? Oh, because his pal, director, and co-writer on the upcoming movie Zola is also the director of Them’s most traumatically tacky, exploitative and maligned episode. 🙄
Now regardless of how you feel about this guy’s own funniness level, I think he’s absolutely right in this video and that his analysis about an unfunny mafia relates to a Black Excellence Mafia and their own version of omertà
I’m going to show with NO CHERRY-PICKING every black person who is supporting Harris’s tweet and they will all be either an “artivist,” a “creative,” or an aspiring “creative. These people are not on code with Black people in general but super on code with each other.
“Latinx” in the profile, the Blavitys of the Latinos
“I haven’t seen the show yet but...” 🙄
“My intersectional pain”.

Also this is the profile of the other person she cites as being the only other person she trusts to correctly assess Them.
Again, I did not cherry-pick any of this. At the time I made this thread that is literally everyone black who quote-tweeted that thread positively. It’s cuz they’re all people who need this system of rewarding strivers for exploiting trauma they have no connection to to survive
...because they either are still waiting for their turn to cash in or they have cashed in and need this enterprise to remain legitimated lest it hurt their brands
Something else untrue and offensive about thread is something I especially can’t stand about this crowd: always erasing past Black achievement to make themselves look more groundbreaking and revolutionary than they are. Only 5 nonwhite authors before now have explored Black pain?
They do this ALL THE TIME. Do something mundane and unremarkable and at times even derivative but then claim no one else ever did it before. An example is Issa Rae claiming to invent depictions of Black normalcy. They ironically erase Black excellence the MOST.
Look at the difference in analysis of when you actually know what you’re talking about like this thread. Mtume can casually give more than 5 examples offhand in just a single tweet. (This whole thread is gold) https://twitter.com/sircoregant/status/1385194855031316485
