the tone of this thread is tongue in cheek but genuinely, if we’re at a point where people (namely teenagers) are comfortable using social media platforms to state that they find a character in cinema/tv being tortured attractive, we have a genuine problem with desensitisation.
if you can look at that scene (or any torture/“enhanced interrogation”/detainee abuse in fictional media) and have a reaction that is neutral/interested/attracted, you have been overexposed to sanitised depictions of that behaviour and it no longer means what it should to you.
