How to earn +R4000 per month standing in ques to renew people’s car licenses / change of
ownership

A step by step guide to a side hustle that requires no more than 10 hours per week.

[ THREAD ]
Last year, August 2020 I was asked by a friend to go renew their car licence for them as they
had an appointment to attend to.

I was offered R300 for the one day job which took less than five hours on the day.
While at the licensing department, I spoke to an old gentleman in front of me in the line.

This was his third time at the licensing department that week.

He renewed and changed car ownership regularly for people.

He laid out the entire game for
me in a 10 minute conversation
Today, I earn on average between R4000 to R6000 per month renewing people’s care license
and changing ownership of cars in 10 hours or less per week.

I charge R300 per client for licence renewal and change of ownership.

I operate around the City of Cape Town.
However, the strategies I am about to share will work in any area with a high vehicle density.

Here is a step by step guide on how to get started:
Step 1: Market research

First step is to research all the car license departments within your area.

Make a list of them.

The list should include the information such as the open and closing dates, times, and contact
number.
There are many other people who do this as a side hustle.

They are referred to as “runners”.

Speak to the runners in your area and find out how much they all charge.

In Cape Town, the average price to charge for this service is R300 per client for one renewal.
Research all the car dealerships within your area.

Make a list of them. Get all the relevant information needed

They are your potential leads

Research for any social media groups (I.e; Facebook) from any car related content

Make a list of these groups. They potential leads.
Step 2: Get clients

This is the most difficult part when starting off.

It becomes much easier as people start to get to know you and promote you.

There are three ways you can get clients.
The first is by identifying all the licence departments within your area.

Next, you will need to go
to the licence department and network with people already standing in ques.

You will need to be confident enough to go up to people and start a conversation.
Tell them who you are and the service you are offering should they need it.

Try and leave with contact
details.

Spot people who complain about the ques. You will have a higher conversion with such people

In first two months, you will need to spend 2-4 hrs a week doing this.
The second way you can get clients is by making a list of all the car dealerships in your area

Go to the dealerships in person & inform of your services and fees

They regularly do change of ownership of cars and do most cardelearship do not have a person
responsible for this.
Your main aim should be to strike a possible partnership where they can use your service
regularly.

Your sales skills are crucial here. If your fee is too high for them, negotiate.

But by all means, try and seal the deal.
To date, I have approached 89 car dealerships.

I have only managed to close and work with 4 car dealerships.

The more you approach the higher your chances.
The third way to get clients is by going to social media groups such as facebook pages that are
related to cars in your area.

Regularly (Everyday/ Second day) posting and telling people about who you are, your service and how much you charge.
Do not overlook this method of getting clients.

It is very powerful.

40% of my clients I have met over social media groups just from posting about my services
daily.
Step 3: Do the work

For every license renewal & car change of ownership, the owner need to provide you with the following info:

- Copy of their ID
- A permission letter stating that you can renew license / change car ownership

You will need:

- A copy of your ID / Passport
You will be required to collect these documents and arrange to have it returned to the owners once the job has been completed.

I charge R300 per client and complete between 15 and 20 jobs per week in no longer than 10
hours per week.
Thank you for reading up till this point.
