First #StephenLawrenceDay interview was on Peterborough City Radio this AM. I spoke to Presenter Kev about “enabling people to reflect on what happened to the Lawrence family to help as a springboard to talk about Race, Equality, Diversity & Indifference” to respectfully
quote Stephens younger Brother Stuart ( @sal2nd) from a conversation we had last night. I also spoke about some events I’m involved with, including a Poetry event that encourages Artists & the Wider Community to open up a conversation about Creating a fairer Society & positioning
Themselves as a Voice for the Voiceless. Driving the changes they’d like to see through Conversation, Awareness & Proactivity. Let’s use Today as an opportunity to look within, ask ourselves what changes we can make & be part of a Shift that will hopefully lead to changes in
attitudes towards Racism, Law, Police Practice, Inclusion & Equal Representation. Today is not about division, it’s about solidarity & a united celebration of Stephens Life & Legacy. I’ll be wearing this T-Shirt with Pride & will be reminding myself to remain conscious about
how I treat others. It’s a journey of learning, understanding & change for all of us. In light of recent events in the media (George Floyd, BLM) Its Important to know that our generation are in a position to make History & alter the course of our future for the better.
I’ll leave the last words of this thread to someone who I’m proud to say has become a good Friend, Stuart Lawrence, who kindly took the time to send this video message to our Spoken Word Group 🧡
