I thought we could try something. Can you remember the first time you became aware that there were them and us in NI? When I was 4ish, and we lived in Stockman's Lane, before the M1, there was cheering from Casement Park on a Sunday. Mum told me it was the 'rowdy football.
'They' played their football on a Sunday, but we certainly didn't. No idea why that stuck in my mind. Have a think and see if you can remember when you knew you were in one tribe or the other.
At home, in school, on a bus, the language used by parents, their friends, teachers etc...not necessarily a big moment. I was told to stop playing football with my pals by a nun as I went to the wrong school.
