There were many inspirations that went into the 2021 Intro Sequence for the Nostalgia Critic. One which people got very early on (much to my surprise) was the HBO Feature Presentation intro sequence from the 1980s. Good on ya to those who caught that. :)

More later.
It’s later.

One common thread from the previous NC intros of mine (and the ones before that) is the use of scenes from previous episodes, showcasing the cast’s work from the previous year (and sometimes beyond).
One thing that I noticed, though, was that the scenes were very random for the most part. At the time, it was effective to show the range of roles and characters the cast had portrayed. This year, though, I wanted it to be a more centered... as well as more epic.
Like a lot of people out there, I’ve been mightily impressed with the work of @exp_perception and the Marvel movies– in particular the Main on End sequence of “Avengers: Endgame”. I wanted to give that same sort of epic feel to the new NC intro.
It would also give me a chance to show clips of a particular cast member or a themed group of them. The same went into my intro sequence for the finale of @SundayNightQuar last year.
I could show the clips on large rectangles like the previous NC intros, but since the intro always end with the Critic’s logo anyway, it might be a more stylistic choice (and challenge) to place the clips on the letterforms of the logo itself.
I later found out that this was quite similar to Perception’s initial prototypes for the Marvel Studios Logo Rebrand.
I had a group of other tweets after this, but they got erased from my drafts. I'll post more later on.
