In honor of the new movie, I will now watch MORTAL KOMBAT for the first time since the theater...
OMG This movie goes from zero to cocaine night club in 1 second
Okay ive been stuck here because Robin Shou’s hair reminds me of something and I cant remember what...
"BROTHER DEAD. RETURN HOME. GRANDFATHER."

Now, that's economy!
re: hair omg you're not wrong https://twitter.com/andykhouri/status/1385121968270168071
So far this movie has almost as much dutch angle as BATTLEFIELD EARTH
1. Love when the actor brings A game to choreo but throwing a fit and going to your trailer is bush league, dude! 2. Hahahahha they made the director spielberg
Want to take a second to appreciate Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. He was such a great actor and appeared in so much fun stuff I watched throughout the 90's and today.
Ohhhhhhh oh noooooooo no no no
On the other hand re: white douchery...
Just once I want to scream "my dominions are well known to me, sorcerer!" and have it mean something.
Why does the aesthetic of this movie sometimes remind me of HOOK?
Omg I remember Lamberts sarcastic laugh after "the fate of billions lies in your hands" getting a huge laugh in the theater...
the rapid juxtaposition between really good location work and mid 90's cgi is really something else in this
Oh snap, Talisa Soto! That's now TWO actor connections to LICENSE TO KILL
First sample fight! One is a no name who does kicks where he loses his balance on the take and they still kept it for some reason! The other does ice magic! I wonder who will win???
Seriously they kept the take where he loses his balance
Goro holds up pretty good!
"Look at him! No dignity! No manners! Yet in the realm of earth, men like him can amass great worth and almost god-like power." It's fun when movies like this have really good lines.
Johnny Cage's whiny shit energy is off the charts and it is exactly correct.
Love a movie with 40 minutes of set-up that still feels totally correct in doing so.

So far my only complaint is that the mortal kombat song hasn't been subtly blasted the entire time
Okay my only actual complaint is that NONE of these actors are selling their snaps on the choreography and I'm so glad most directors have figured that shit out. We've come a long way, folks.
Wait was this location the inspiration for the gutter in dark souls 2? Niche reference!
More heads should explode for no reason after you cut through 1/3 of them
"Use the element which brings life" man they REALLY thought they had to set that up twice AND have Kitana appear to watch, huh?
What I love about this montage is it implies there were exactly 20 human fighters in this tournament that we literally never saw before
Genuinely love any time a movie totally stops for a “you know what your problem is?” speech.
I know you all WANT me to tweet the Goro ball smash, but the ensuing scene was just so anti-climactic that I didn't have the heart. RIP Goro.
Producers: "So how are you going to fit Reptile in this movie?"

Paul WS Anderson: "we're gonna make a really bad CGI lizard stalk the leads then get sucked into the weird stomach guts of an alien statue and it's going to turn into a dude."

Producers: "Here's your money."
This is one of those movies where it's like how is there another half hour in this movie? And there's just a lot of half hour in that half hour.
My friend watched this movie for the first time tonight and called it "PG Hellraiser" and I can't stop thinking about that.
Liu Kang: "Flawless victory!" Actually you got hit a whole bunch in that fight so actually tha- you know what it, it's fine, it's fine.
This other ending techno banger is pretty good (skip to 1:40)
Also that ending goes from "we won" to "oh shit it's back on" also in 1 second flat.
What did I think?

It only needed more gory murder, which is kinda the whole point, but also not, so 10/10 would recommend. Happy thursday, we did it, good night.

I will now leave you with one of the top 10 songs of all time.
