One of the conversations we need to have is about personal accountability. Let everyone answer for themselves. If x and y did something, let x answer for his part and y her part. Accusing x and y's group for it is lazy and it allows bad apples to hide behind ethnic sentiments.

Also, if someone from your ethnic group does something odious, resist the temptation to be defensive, even if you anticipate the collective accusation. Let the accused answer for themselves, unless you gave them the mandate to act on your behalf.

I mean imagine how it would appear if Nigerians everywhere instinctively spring to the defense of any Nigerian caught with cocaine or arrested for Internet fraud. Were they running an errand on our behalves? Did we send them? Are they sharing their illicit proceeds with us?
