#WordOfHonor Ever since I read the director's interview about how they purposely avoided straight edges and lines, and instead tried to bring in circles and roundness to their framing of the drama I have been a person obsessed. And it is really interesting that scenes (1/)
between WKX & ZZS, and their loved ones are often framed in circles or softened by objects in the foreground. But it can be inverted/reversed by using darker colours; red and lighting. (2/)
Once you start noticing the damn circles, soft edges and blurred foreground objects to soften scenes you CAN'T NOT but notice it. But it is really fascinating when they use a lot of roundness in their framing and sets. Or when they choose not to use them. (3/)
Even scenes where it is rigid is actually filled with round objects and curves. Look at the damn lanterns and curtains in the background. Or using the cloth to create a sense of roundness/curve to the framing. (4/)
EVEN IN THIS SCENE! LOOK AT THE CIRCLES! I love a production crew that truly care about the details. RIGID and straight lines being softened by foreground objects being round and blurred, but also set pieces in the background with circles or roundness. Respect (5/)
Honestly, I just have mad respect for the crew for committing to the circular/round/curvier aesthetics as opposed to the rigidity and angular lines of traditional wuxia. It is pleasing to the eye & somehow conveys a softer, more feminine aesthetics. LOVE. (6/6)
