The fault is ours.

For over 75 years we have voted in leadership who put votes over everything else. Over development, over infrastructure, over education, over rule of law, over strong institutions.

It’s not this Party or that Party. It’s not any Party.

It’s us.
Come divide us.

Over caste, religion, agendas...

Celebrate decisions that make our “group” happy for the upcoming election, but suck the life out of the country in the future.

And of course, why do we need accountability when we can use the winning formula again, and again.
Oops. You don’t really have to divide us.

You have merely use existing divisions.

We believe we can progress when others lose. But we can’t.

At the end we have to go the same hospitals.
Two months later.

We would have forgotten all this.

And dance again to the tunes of our “group”, our agenda. Our whatsapp chats will go back to hate.

We shall hold no one accountable.

The silence of the lambs.
Nothing will done.

Social media allows lip service to become people’s reality.

We win arguments with each other, thinking we are winning. Emotions down a whatsapp drain.

Nah. We are just being played.

All the damn time
We need accountability.

And we need introspection.

Both.

No family will be left untouched by these waves. We will all pay a price.

And the first time we are realising we are in this together.
So someone said that we forgive because we remember a time that was far worse. Those days are imprinted in our minds.

And that sense of progress makes us grateful, and forgiving.

But it’s wrong. We can be much further ahead than we are. Other nations have moved.
We can do better. We deserve better.

We need to DEMAND better.

Next time you pick up your smartphone, open your WhatsApp to defend your party.

Stop.

Don’t defend. DEMAND.

We are not a poor country. We have been kept poor by our divisions.
Ask on your WhatsApp group why did it have to come to this:

If we don’t wake up after personal loss, we won’t wake up ever.

Every neighbour is affected. Every family is.

We have to demand. Not divide.
