The scratches the surface of why I no longer identify myself as a “Conservative.” Perhaps I would have labeled myself as such in another age, but that field is now fallow.

There is still vitality left on the right, but it’s far removed from the husk of modern Conservatism. https://twitter.com/orangepartisan/status/1385062200734330887
If you remain conflicted, ponder Conservative “victories” over the past forty years. Did any of these so-called wins move the nation right instead of left? What has this movement managed to conserve exactly? Do you feel more free today than yesterday?
We are now living in an America where every major public and private institution that has the ability to shape our lives is dominated by the left. And what remains are the vestiges of a pre-liberal inheritance that is fast slipping away: faith, family, community, and culture.
Conservatism as currently defined is a dead-end. It’s the designated “heel” to the left’s always triumphant “face.” Our movement is one controlled by beltway elites; a corrupt mob of tankers, contractors, Ivy League eggheads, and corporate lobbyists-
...indifferent to the interests of everyday conservative Americans. Most of us find ourselves in this predicament because we have nowhere else to go, and no one else to turn to.
The only way we will survive this- by the skin of our teeth at this rate- is to utterly reject the Conservative elite, their craven gospel of “principle” over interests, and their refusal to wield power domestically. We have to rediscover the localism of our forebearers...
Only by clinging to that last metaphysical right and securing a place to stand, can we cultivate a better culture and take our fight to our enemies, both inside and outside Conservatism.
