After Geno gets his happy ending he can& #39;t touch Reaper anymore. He& #39;s not dying, not in the in-between state that the save screen put him in. Is his happiness truly worth never being able to touch Reaper anymore? Reaper thinks it is, Geno disagrees
Geno doesn& #39;t think about it until it& #39;s too late to stop anything. He& #39;s prepared to die, and thinks it& #39;s not gonna work because what has ever worked out for him?? For him, he& #39;ll finally be able to embrace death, but if not? He& #39;ll get to have his happy ending.
He doesn& #39;t think, he doesn& #39;t THINK. Not until he looks at Reaper, smiling, tears in his sockets, and tries to hug him. He swears the world stops when Reaper flinches away from him like a hot iron. His pained smile is enough to crush what& #39;s left of Geno& #39;s soul.
For Geno, all he thought about was revenge and stopping the genocide routes. Of trying to stop the awful cycle he had found himself trapped within. All Reaper thought of was losing the warm hand in his own, and how Geno& #39;s happy ending would be worth the deep aching loss.
Some say you don& #39;t know what you have until you lose it, but Geno never realized that he had anything left TO lose. Reaper knew all along that he was meant to lose everything he had. It was natural, death eventually comes for us all.
But, Geno had always been the exception to that rule. Spitting in the face of death and clawing his way to survival even as the world tried to wear him down cycle by cycle. He was special, he was Reaper& #39;s glitch in the matrix, a beacon in the darkness. Until he wasn& #39;t.
Geno reaches out for Reaper, and Reaper turns away. The realization of what he had lost, the price he had paid for his happy ending, came too late. And for Geno, the price wasn& #39;t worth it, not if he couldn& #39;t share it with Reaper.
They try to make it work, but Geno keeps trying to touch him. Keeps getting frustrated and angry that Reaper won& #39;t even TRY to fix this or to test out whether he lost ability to be touched by death. Eventually, they fight and Reaper is forced to leave for good.
Leaving Geno behind. Heartbroken, surrounded by family and loved ones but missing the other half of his heart. Was this truly the happy ending he had wanted? No, no it wasn& #39;t.
Fine, if Reaper won& #39;t help, he& #39;ll have to do it by himself. Geno thinks, adjusting his glasses. And the only power he knew of that could defy death itself? Determination.
So he experiments, pushing himself to his limits, fiddling with the fabric of reality, trying to find a way back into the save screen OR to somehow harness the save screen& #39;s power. As plans often do, things go awry.
Mortals weren& #39;t supposed to meddle with powers above their understanding. Realty was not meant to bend and fold and twist around the whims of a mere mortal. Death could not touch life. But Geno was Determined, ripping a hole in the fabric of the universe to prove it wrong.
He wasn& #39;t planning on getting stuck. On getting himself trapped in a web of his own design. Wasn& #39;t trying to sacrifice his happy ending in favor of his selfish desire to be with Reaper once more. He wasn& #39;t trying to lose Reaper with his selfishness. He just wanted Reaper back.
And soon enough, he forgets the reason why he hates in the first place. All he knows is hatred. Soon enough he forgets the stars, and the surface. Forgets Papyrus& #39;s smile and his tattered scarf. He forgets, he forgets
he forgot-
Who is he?
he forgot-
Who is he?
Let& #39;s end this story and start with another one shall we?
One day, the multiverse was ripped into. Creating a space inbetween existence that wasn& #39;t quite something and wasn& #39;t quite nothing. There was no life, and no death. It wasn& #39;t the void, because it wasn& #39;t emptiness. This space was liminal, creating the birth of destruction
Creation of the birth of destruction, nothing yet something. An error in the code that made up life. Error, the destroyer of universes began here, within the & #39;anti-void& #39;.
He quickly made a name for himself as an outsource. As one of the few creations that could traverse other alternate universes. Crossing much more than time and space. Error makes enemies, and tentative allies. He destroys and kills and it& #39;s never enough to quench the hate within
Then one day Error meets the god of death, Reaper. Reaper has been searching for his lost love, mourning Geno& #39;s disappearance and blaming himself. Even so, he has heard of the destroyer of worlds and offers his hand with a smile. Error, afraid of touch, doesn& #39;t fall for the trick
on mere luck. And thus, a new story begins. This one doesn& #39;t have a happy ending, or a sad one, or an ending at all. Instead it is the chance at a new beginning, even if neither one realizes it quite yet
