reading through the plans for the various people running for mayor and man I can tell you that working in low-income housing really changes your perspective on "good" policy
sure you can save $1.5billion for the city by not hiring anyone for 2 years but consider: attrition is happening because your existing workers are exhausted due to understaffing and poor training
sure you can freeze evictions and cancel foreclosures but how are you going to keep the nonprofits that house formerly street homeless people in operation when they are bleeding money due to their other tenants not paying rent for two years
oooh this one Gets It. and actually has a clear and concise Plan for eviction protections that help both tenants and landlords, including who gets priority for funding and who would be in charge of implementing it.
ahh yes, let's convert hotels into affordable housing. it's quick, it's easy, it's already got beds! have you ever seen a hotel room in this city? do you know how tiny they are? this is not 1899, you cannot fit a family of five in a 100sqft room.
ok, this is a policy review thread but this guy's headshot makes him look like he stepped straight out of a harlem jazz club circa 1920 into 2021 and that's a time travel novel I would read in a heartbeat
