One of my best things about my job is being able to bring in people from “non-traditional” paths. It’s not a favor or a gift either - motherfuckers earned that shit in 100 different ways & once they get the hang of things, it’s amazing to watch them just fucking dominate
Find a person who knows stakeholder management better than someone who’s worked in food service. It can’t be done.
One of my fave things to do in interviews is to talk abt how I got here - seeing people relax & know it’s possible for them too.
I love connecting people’s experiences to the work we do now. Managing in retail made me a better manager than any class could. A bad day at the office has nothing on a bad day at the hair salon. That shit is hard, real work, and it is relevant af work experience.
